Del Eated Poest

SO then i forgot to send a shoutout to Imme who so blatantly requested one, it was like this:
-ImmE-OMGLULZ!!! mention me in your blog
-Rocket-Boy-I likea Mica
-Imme-Totally mention me like for sure
-Rocket-Boy-I once saw a man falling out of a tree
-ImmE-k so dont forget
-Rocket-Boy-m00000000000000000!

It really wasnt like that but i have a twisted grip on reality.
*lix* Imme

Nahoon Mile

So then i did the Nahoon mile this weekend, which all sounds fine... cept for the conditions.

First of all it was raining, just like it had been for a day or two before that, so the river was flowing fairly quickly in the direction of the sea.

Then it was frikken cold and im not talking just a mild chill - this was full on Lion Water (when its so cold its just head and mane *g*)

Next problem was that i was damn unfit and had not eaten or drank anything on the day.

So anyways, we go down to register and that takes an hour longer to do than expected so my loving fiance had to go pick up my speedo and bring that to me, yes i wore a speedo get over it.

The rest is kind of a blur after having to stand in front of the crowds with the three musketeers in their speedos.

The actual race was damn hard cos it was against a raging current up until the turn around point and then the rising tide in the opposite direction, i mean REALLY!!!

At one point i stopped to see where the boys were and noticed i was drifting backwards so had to carry on swimming.

the results were far from what i was wanting but they were still decent given circumstances. so here are the results : i came in 66th my mates i raced with came in 69th and 74th.

I did get a free swim cap and a free tshirt for coming in the lower times.

So then i wanted to see what the whole story was with the speed etc of the swim, so last night i went to the Virgin active pools and hit a quick swim to see, now the race was 1.6km and i finished that in a time of 37.29 last night i swam a k in 17mins so that at least made me realise where i normally am. I would have done the full 1.6 but left my goggles at home in an attempt to burn my eyeballs right from their sockets with elevated chlorine levels :/

So thats my story, doing some serious gym and getting closer to the wedding....

spinning

Right so who would ever have thought that a word as harmless as *spinning* could hold such incredible horrors?
Let me spell it out for you then:
1. Take a short balding gay man with a high voice
2. Toss in a spinning cycle
3. Place Siv and Wes respectively next to you on said bicycles
4. Add heat
5. Add sweat -- lots of it
6. Add some fatness -- i have plenty to spare

So then i agreed to go and spin with the boys after i put SIv through a rather friendly, mild paced free weight session. He thought he would try and kill me in return, now i have cycled fairly seriously before and i *know* i can do most anything on a bike, correction _could_ do pretty much anything on a bike.
All i want to say is that it was not pleasant.
It started out easily enough with all of us spinning easily while we waited for the afforementioned instructor to arrive, it went fairly steeply downhill from there.
The part where you sit down isnt that bad actually, its where you stand that becomes a problem.
See you have to stand up and crunch away and when that starts to hurt then you stand up even straighter just to increase the amount of pain you are experiencing.
My personal favorite was when i drank too much water before and could only think about the fact that i needed that toilet more than anything on earth.
We got through it tho and i was like "what its over? i was saving this last burst of energy for the end" and then it really was over and i was feeling slightly cheated for not being as tired as i thought i would be.

SO.... after all the bitching and moaning i have done, i must say... im going back today, or more likely tomorrow when my stiff legs ease up a bit.

But i can say that Siv will be suffering for this one, weight training tomorrow you say? lovely........

Siv likes boys

Oh did i mention that Siv likes boys?
He is supposed to get himself off to gym with me sometime but im not too sure at this point, aah the wedding plans strike again.
We are supposedly going to be enduring each others workouts, so whatever i want to subject him to he has to do and vice-versa.

Did i mention that he likes boys?

Wedding plans....

Seems wedding plans are alot harder than I had previously thought.
I always knew they were difficult but this is just ridiculous. It not just a case of saying "I am man, will show up and say ""I do"" "
Nooooooooo society thought it would make it way harder, for example:

1. You cant invite everyone you would like to, either due to financial constraints, the size of the venue or just people who dont get along. - i have also noticed that people who you havnt seen for ages and have chosen not to invite will suddenly appear and *think/expect* that they are automatically getting invited....

2. The actual wedding, other than getting suits etc and making sure stuff gets done thats not too bad, fiance is luckily uber organised so that makes my life alot easier.

3. The honeymoon, now this is the evil part... EVERYONE wants to know where you are going and what you are going to be doing, its become a very big thing. Now the accepted norm in SA seems to be a honeymoon in Mauritius, why i am not really sure considering how commercialised/lame it is. Not saying its lame for everyone, just me pretty much.
So then, where are we going? Cant reveal that entirely but we will be staying in the country which is a good thing considering i have never been to these places before.
But i am busy finalising plans for the trip and it should be awesome. So far anyone who has asked and been told that we are staying here has kind of looked at me in *that* way. The scary part is that it is probably more expensive to be doing what we are, if i consider the cost of the numerous places we will be staying at, it is cheaper than taking a package deal to Mauritius! Oh the tribulations, the one plus to Mauritius is that i could get some awesome salt water fly action in, but then again on honeymoon that wouldnt happen so thats where it ends....

Im sure there was a point to this entry but right now i seem to have lost it, oh well.

first post....

Right, so this is my first blog post ever.
I find that kinda strange considering how long i have been into IT and related things like irc, web dev etc.
I suppose it was only a matter of time until such a thing took place....
So now comes the new dilemma, what to write on it. Im sure i could carry on with mindless drivel like i have been up until now or even something deep and profound.
I think im going to do neither.
